The SOTERIA project is approaching its final milestone, bringing together cutting-edge research, real-world experimentation, and collaborative innovation in urban road safety. To mark this important moment and share its results, we invite you to join the SOTERIA Final Event, taking place at the University of Deusto at Bilbao on 28 April 2026. What to expect The SOTERIA Final Event will offer a unique opportunity to explore key findings and lessons learned from the project’s Living Labs, alongside innovative data-driven solutions designed to respond to the evolving challenges of urban environments. A central pillar of SOTERIA is the co-creation of road safety solutions with Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) and local communities. By embedding this process in real-life contexts, the project has developed approaches that are not only innovative but also inclusive, equitable and practical. A dedicated session will highlight how co-creation has been applied, showcasing concrete examples of how VRU needs have shapedthe solutions developed. Participants will have the opportunity to: - Discover key findings and results from SOTERIA research and Living Lab activities
- Explore innovative data-driven road safety solutionsand their potential for replication
- Engage with public and private stakeholders, researchers and practitioners shaping the future of road safety.
The hybrid event will be structured around interactive sessions, a panel discussion and live demonstrations of digital solutions. Join us to explore the latest research results, innovations and technologies shaping safer, smarter and more inclusive urban mobility across Europe. 📅 Register here to secure your place!
Draft agenda is available at this link. We look forward to welcoming you in Bilbao! |

SOTERIA policy recommendations were recently presented to over 120 representatives of enforcement authorities, transport associations and industry, alongside delegates from European Commission | DG MOVE and the European Labour Authority. The presentation took place during the CORTE Enforcement Working Group Meeting, held on 19 March in Brussels. The recommendations developed within the SOTERIA project support the EU’s ambition to halve road fatalities and serious injuries by 2030 and achieve Vision Zero by 2050. They place particular emphasis on improving safety for VRUs, who continue to be disproportionately affected by road crashes. Built on 3.5 years of research, co-creation and real-world validation, these recommendations form part of a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to urban road safety—covering technological and infrastructure measures, as well as training, awareness, and policy and regulatory actions. The full set of SOTERIA policy recommendations will be published soon. Stay tuned for further updates. |
